The semi-detached house in Waldshut is situated in an exposed position on a slope with a view over the Rhine and the old town. The building develops along the topography and offers the necessary flexibility to adapt to the changing living conditions of its residents. The choice of façade cladding in the form of 3 mm thick hot-dip galvanised steel sheets provides an exciting contrast to the rather over-aestheticised interior design. The building envelope impresses with a high degree of detailing as well as enormous craftsmanlike precision in the formation and implementation of the curtain-type, rear-ventilated façades. This standard continues beyond the façade to adjacent components such as the hot-dip galvanised handrail of the external staircase, making the new building a remarkable example of high-quality single-family house construction.
