The architects behind the new Tau Church, HBA/Ratio, wanted the church building to have a rustic surface with slabs that give a slate feel. The galvanizing gives exactly this surface. The church was completed in the summer of 2021 with inauguration on Sunday 12 September 2021.
The job was done on behalf of Lie Blikk, a façade producer, and all the employees of the local galvanizing company were involved in the assignment.
It is clear that the project has been noticed in the industry. Subsequently, both the galvanizer and Lie Blikk have received requests from architects from other parts of the country. These are interested in opportunities for collaboration on projects where an exciting and lasting surface is desirable.
The obvious idea is that this should be a building with life and activity seven days a week, according to a template from the seamen's churches around the world. Such a building can also house cultural functions such as a cultural ball and library - in addition to being a large stove for Nordre Strand with room for up to 500 seats and a large stage area. The galvanized parts weighed around 31 tonnes.
